Apple have been producing the iPhone since June 2007 and they all use iOS. In May 2020 I got an iPhone XR (see iPhone XR - Technical Specifications - Apple (UK)) which came with iOS 13.
One of the first challenges, was installing the physical SIM, see Remove or switch the SIM card in your iPhone or iPad – Apple Support for details on that. It is worth noting that the iPhone XR also supports an eSIM in addition to the physical SIM.
This depends on whether you have a physical home button or not, as my iPhone XR does not then a brief press of the volume up and side button does the trick. See Take a screenshot on your iPhone – Apple Support for full details.
