Windows Server 2012 R2
This work was done with the Preview release in July 2013
There are a number of things to do, this is not a step by step "idiot proof" guide but rather a summary of the key steps assuming technical knowledge and familiarity with Windows Server in general. So, this is what you need to do:
- Change the host name of the server, accept reboot request
- Add "Active Directory Domain Services" Role
- Promote the server to Domain Controller, this will install the DNS Server role, the reboot should be automatic
- Configure the DNS Server, specifying which IP addresses it should use, if it should not use all NICs
- Configure static IP addresses on the DNS NICs
- DNS: add a "Reverse Lookup Zone" and then add a "PTR Record" to point to your Domain Controller (use the Browse button!)
- Add DHCP Server Role (although I think this might work better being done first, not sure), this role requires at least one static IP address
- Complete the DHCP config by following the wizard, then restart the "DHCP Server" service as requested
- DHCP: specify which NICs it should use
- DHCP: add a scope
