Guest Additions
When the Guest Additions CD is "inserted" it arrives in the /media or /run/media directory, with the latter it might include the username as well. If you are having trouble with shared folders then CentOS – VirtualBox Shared Folder | ChrEli::Blog might help.
Installing Guest Additions
I am quite sure I needed to install the gcc and kernel-devel packages, however I think after that the real key was setting KERN_DIR in .bashrc, however I did all the following:
- Install package "gcc (Various compilers)"
- Install package "kernel-devel"
- Install package "epel-release-7-6"
- Install package "dkms"
- modify ~/.bashrc add the following as the last line but make sure it is what actually exists
echo export KERN_DIR=/usr/src/kernels/`uname -r` >> ~/.bashrc
Then to get access to any shared folders that are mounted execute this as root:
usermod -a -G vboxsf geoff
After that the user "geoff" will need to logout and login again.
