Often when you install a Linux desktop you will find an old version of Mozilla Firefox or maybe Thunderbird is available from the distribution's package repository. Generally this should be the latest ESR release, see Firefox Extended Support Release FAQ — Mozilla for more details. If you would rather be on the very latest, then you either need to download the Linux release direct from Mozilla or you could look at SourceForge.net: ubuntuzilla.
